Apparently, the concern may get the name Auto Union, although there is no official confirmation of this information yet.
Why did the familiar name cease to suit? The fact is that the concern includes many brands: Porsche AG, Bentley Motors, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi AG, Automobili Lamborghini, Bugatti Automobiles, Ducati Motor Holding, SEAT, Skoda Automobilova, as well as MAN and Scania.
The name Volkswagen, however, is associated by most people with only one specific brand. If all this set is united under the Auto Union sign, then a clear distinction will appear between the corporate name and individual brands.
By the way, the new name is not new at all. Previously, this was the name of a company whose logo of four rings symbolized the union of Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. This brand belongs to the corporation, and the car it produced was renamed Audi back in 1965.
