Police "Priuses" only started arriving in Ukraine in late 2013-early 2014, and in total the Ministry of Internal Affairs purchased 1,220 Japanese hybrids. The recall covers "Priuses" produced between May 7, 2009 and January 29, 2014.
The reason for the recall is quite innocent, at first glance: Toyota decided to update the program that controls the power electronics unit. The service registered 11 cases of failures of this program, which had no serious consequences, but it was decided to make the necessary corrections to the software.
The greatest danger that currently threatens the owner of a third-generation "Prius", Toyota calls the shutdown of the hybrid drive system, which could cause the car to stop.
The Ukrainian representative office of Toyota has not yet officially confirmed the start of the recall campaign here, but assured that the necessary software corrections for "Priuses" will be made during scheduled maintenance. However, it is quite possible that Ukrainian owners of the Toyota Prius will also be invited to visit the service unscheduled.
