The route of this motor rally was laid along a route popular in the USA: Los Angeles - New York. The electric cars were charged exclusively at branded Supercharger charging stations.
These stations not only allow charging Tesla Model S for free, but also significantly save charging time. You can charge the batteries halfway in just 20 minutes.
To set the record, the Tesla team needed fifteen relief drivers and two engineers. Now it remains to enter this achievement into the Guinness Book of Records, this issue is still being resolved.
Let us remind you that earlier an ordinary American, Joe Glini, had already made a similar trip together with his daughter Jill, spending about five days to cover 5400 km. Using a Tesla Model S electric car, Joe also did not pay a single cent for refueling the car.
