The PSA concern decided to separate the platform-sharing Peugeot and Citroen models into different target audiences, assigning Citroen the role of a youthful and more affordable vehicle. Thus, the Cactus model reflects the brand's new philosophy, while Peugeot will retain its conservative gloss for more serious buyers.

It should be noted that only five months have passed since the debut of the Cactus concept, which indicates the public's great interest in such an unusual interpretation of a city crossover.

Most impressive are the protective plastic Airbump pads, which protect the "Cactus" not only front and rear, but also on the sides. These panels will protect the car during light contacts with various obstacles or from a very common damage in a metropolis – a scratch from a supermarket cart.

The interior of the Citroen C4 Cactus is no less extravagant than its exterior. Take, for example, the one-piece front seat, nostalgic for American "cruisers" of the 70s. You might ask: "What's the point?" Young people don't need an explanation of the convenience of such a solution, when you share one comfortable sofa with a cute female passenger.

Moreover, this solution allowed the designers to save a whole six kilograms of weight! By gradually reducing the weight of parts here and there, the designers managed to get the base version of the crossover weighing only 965 kilograms, which is 200 kilograms less compared to the C4 hatchback.

In general, the "Cactus" has something to surprise and delight the most active part of the population. Among the special "features" it is worth noting the new multimedia system, which online allows displaying information about traffic congestion, the location of the nearest gas stations, hotels and restaurants.

From the Cactus concept, it also inherited control of various systems (climate, various settings) using a seven-inch touchscreen display, and the gear lever was replaced by buttons. Some solutions in the Citroen Cactus are similar to the Peugeot 2008 model (for example, the parking brake drive), with which the "Cactus" shares one platform.

The manufacturer does not yet share the technical characteristics of the new product, but it is known that the engine lineup will include two gasoline engines with 82 and 109 hp, and two diesels with 92 and 100 hp. We will learn the remaining details during the debut of the new product in early March.
