If the Chinese public and local authorities warmly receive the new premium electric car, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk does not rule out the possibility of opening a plant in China.
It is noteworthy that due to local taxes, duties, and transportation costs, the price of the Model S in China has reached 734,000 yuan, equivalent to 121,280 US dollars. For that amount, one could, for example, purchase an Audi S5 or a BMW 5 Series GT.

However, if tax breaks were applied to imported electric cars, the cost of the Model S would be noticeably lower. For instance, in Norway, the total benefits sometimes even exceed the price of the car. When purchasing for 112,000 dollars, one can subsequently save up to $135,000.
Sales of the Tesla Model S will start in March of this year.
