From an exterior standpoint, the car received a refreshed grille, headlights, tailgate, and alloy wheels. The vehicle also got silver underbody protection panels.

Some changes also occurred in the interior, in particular, the instrument cluster, gear selector, cup holders, and glasses holder became different.

In addition to the regular version, the technical details of which are not yet disclosed, Toyota showed a hybrid modification of the crossover. Its powertrain includes a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, an electric motor located on the rear axle, and an electromechanical CVT. The manufacturer has not yet announced the dynamic characteristics of the hybrid, but hinted that it will be more powerful than the SUV with an internal combustion engine.

Among other things, the upgraded RAV4 is equipped with forward collision warning and mitigation systems, lane keeping assist, pedestrian detection function, and adaptive cruise control.

The new model will go on sale in autumn 2015.
