Skoda Kylaq could become a new budget model for Europe
Skoda CEO Klaus Zellmer said that the manufacturer is working on a project that involves using components from various cost-effective sources to create more affordable cars.According to him, the company is assessing whether the Skoda Kylaq can be adapted to European requirements for quality, safety, and equipment. The top manager noted that there is a significant price gap between the starting price of the Fabia, which approaches 20 thousand euros, and the cost of the Kylaq in India, making such a project economically interesting.
Currently, the Kylaq is the brand's most compact crossover for the Indian market. In length, it is even smaller than the Fabia and is built on an adapted MQB A0 platform, which is also used by the Kushaq and Slavia models.

Skoda is also considering creating a new urban electric vehicle, but Klaus Zellmer stated that such a model is unlikely to debut before the end of the current decade.He explained that today the company has a strong position in the segment of cars with internal combustion engines, where the Fabia, Scala, and Kamiq remain profitable models with high demand. At the same time, the development of compact electric vehicles within the Volkswagen Group is currently being handled by the Volkswagen brand itself.
Earlier, Skoda participated in the creation of the Volkswagen ID Every1 concept, which will become the successor to the Up model, but later withdrew from this project. That is why the possibility of bringing the petrol-powered Kylaq to the European market is currently seen as one of the real ways to offer customers a car cheaper than the Fabia.
