In its homeland, South Korea, the price of the Kia Sportage Hybrid starts from $27,000, while the base version costs the equivalent of $22,000. By the way, this variant is exclusively front-wheel drive for now.
The powertrain was shared with the related hybrid Hyundai Tucson. A 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 180 hp works in tandem with a 60-hp electric motor. The total output is 230 hp and 350 Nm.
The most powerful Kia Sportage 2022 is also the most economical – 6.0 l/100 km in the combined cycle. The acceleration time to 100 km/h is not reported, but by analogy with the Tucson, it will take about 8 seconds. A small battery pack of 1.49 kWh will allow driving a few kilometers on electric power.
However, a plug-in hybrid Kia Sportage will soon appear. It will have a longer electric-only range, and the powertrain output will be increased to 265 hp.
