The car is based on the GPMA (Global Platform Modular Architecture) platform, measuring 4,700 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, 1,432 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,736 mm. That is, in terms of size, the Trumpchi Empow is comparable to the Skoda Octavia A8 and Volkswagen Jetta.
Under the hood of the "Chinese" is a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 177 hp and 270 Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch "robot" transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7 seconds. Later, the lineup will be expanded with a 2.0-liter turbo engine and a hybrid setup. But the drive will remain the same, front-wheel drive.
Moreover, the Trumpchi Empow has good equipment: it features a digital instrument cluster, multimedia system, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, and a sunroof. Also available are wheels with diameters of 16, 17, and 18 inches.
As for the resemblance to the "Koreans," it is noticeable at first glance that, for example, the front of the new model repeats the modern Hyundai i-series hatches (i20, i30, i40, etc.), the profile resembles the Kia Optima TF liftback (2010-2013), and the interior is reminiscent of the Ioniq 5 electric hatchback.
Prices for the GAC Trumpchi Empow in China range from 98,800 to 128,800 yuan (from 12,880 to 16,790 euros).
