Exterior of the Volkswagen Multivan T7

The fresh Volkswagen Multivan 2022 is produced in two versions, differing in body length: 4973 mm and 5173 mm. It is based on the modular MQB platform, familiar from the VW Golf. Because of this, the minivan's appearance has begun to echo the hatchback's design, especially in the front. At the same time, the smooth, rounded body lines reference the legendary Volkswagen T1 from the 60s. The lighting is LED as standard, with matrix headlights available as an option.

Interior of the Volkswagen Multivan T7

The greatest changes have occurred in the interior of the Volkswagen T7 Multivan. The driver now sees a digital instrument cluster in front of them, and a large 10.1-inch touchscreen is mounted in the center. The familiar gear lever has given way to a compact joystick, making the space between the front seats more open. Some physical buttons have been replaced with touch-sensitive surfaces.

As before, much attention has been paid to transforming the cabin. The rear seats have become easier to remove — if they are taken out, the cargo compartment volume reaches 4053 liters. The second-row seats can be rotated 180 degrees. There is also a folding table, which now moves along rails built into the floor and can change height.

Even in the base version, the Volkswagen Multivan T7 is equipped with Wi-Fi, an automatic braking system, and lane keeping assist. The list of optional equipment now includes a semi-autonomous driving system.

Technical specifications of the Volkswagen Multivan T7

Interestingly, at the start of sales, the new Volkswagen T7 Multivan will not be offered with a diesel engine — the two-liter unit with 150 horsepower will appear only a year later. Initially, the lineup will include only gasoline turbo engines: 1.5 liters (136 hp) and 2.0 liters (204 hp). Additionally, a plug-in hybrid Volkswagen Multivan with an output of 218 hp is presented.

Each modification is equipped with a seven-speed robotic DSG gearbox. A version with all-wheel drive will become available later. However, there will be no electric modification for this model — a separate electric vehicle, VW ID.Buzz, is being prepared for that.
