The production version of the Hongqi S9 differs noticeably from the concept presented last year. The reason is that the Chinese manufacturer brought in a new designer — the renowned Walter de Silva, who created the look of the Alfa Romeo 156, Volkswagen Scirocco, and Passat CC.

The coupe features an elongated profile, narrow LED headlights, and a large glass surface. The doors, as befits a supercar, open upward. Carbon fiber is widely used in the construction.

The hybrid powertrain remains the same — identical to the pre-production Hongqi S9. The twin-turbocharged V8 gasoline engine and three electric motors together produce 1,400 horsepower. This is enough for acceleration to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds and a top speed of 400 km/h. Thus, it is not only the most expensive but also the fastest car from China.
