First of all, you can recognize the Mercedes-Benz CLS 2022 model year by its redesigned radiator grille, more sporty front bumper, new diffuser in the rear bumper, and different wheels. A richer color palette has also appeared: now it includes a new metallic Spectral Blue and a number of Designo series paints - these are Jupiter Red, Cashmere White Magno, and Emerald Green.
Inside, the sedan has also undergone a cosmetic modernization. The new multimedia system – MBUX with a 12.3-inch screen – was introduced just last year, and now the car has been given a new steering wheel and a revised set of trim materials (for example, a new type of wood veneer has appeared). By the way, the size of the digital instrument cluster is also 12.3 inches.
As for engines, the changes affected the diesels. Thus, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit (CLS 300 d version) received an increased output of 265 hp and 550 Nm (from 245 hp and 500 Nm), and the 286-horsepower six-cylinder engine disappeared from the range. The other power units are the same: a 1.9-liter four-cylinder engine with 194 hp and 400 Nm (CLS 220 d) and a 3.0-liter “six” producing 330 hp and 700 Nm of torque (CLS 400 d 4Matic).
The gasoline line-up is completely unchanged: these are the same modifications CLS 350 (2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, 299 hp and 400 Nm), CLS 450 4Matic (3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, 367 hp and 500 Nm), as well as CLS 53 4Matic + (3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, 435 hp and 520 Nm, the most dynamic in the line-up – acceleration to 100 km/h in 4.5 s, top speed – 250 km/h).
Sales of the Mercedes-Benz CLS 2022 will begin in July this year.
By the way, the Mercedes-Benz CLS is still considered the most controversial four-door car of the German brand; many reproach this model for pushing Mercedes away from its own canons and even damaging the brand's reputation as the least consistent with its philosophy. However, the CLS still found its buyers; moreover, commercially this sedan is very successful: since 2004, more than 450 thousand such cars have been sold worldwide.
