Talagon is the production embodiment of the Volkswagen SMV concept presented in 2019. On the outside, the new model almost completely repeats the show car: the same streamlined body lines and massive radiator grille.

The crossover is based on the MQB platform, and the powertrains are borrowed from the Atlas model. At the same time, Talagon turned out to be larger than its "brother": the overall length is 5153 mm, width is 2002 mm, height is 1795 mm, and the wheelbase reaches 2980 mm.

Images of the Talagon interior have not been published yet, but in spy shots it was possible to discern a digital instrument panel and an unusual center console equipped with a shelf.
Under the hood of the model will be placed gasoline turbo engines with a displacement of 2.0 liters, developing 186 and 220 horsepower. Both modifications will receive a seven-speed robotic DSG gearbox with two clutches, as well as the option to choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Production of the Volkswagen Talagon will be organized at the facilities of the SAIC-VW joint venture in Shanghai.
