Despite much talk about the discontinuation of production, the Ford Mondeo and Fusion are not going to be retired. The American sedan has already been taken out of production this year, but spy photos from China refute this.

The new Ford Mondeo 2021 will become a station wagon with increased ground clearance and will compete with the Subaru Outback and Volkswagen Passat Alltrack. No other body styles are planned.

The photos show that the Mondeo/Fusion has a large radiator grille similar to the Ford Edge and a noticeable slope of the rear roof pillars. Such a station wagon will naturally have a high ground clearance, and the lower part of the body will receive protective plastic cladding.

In the interior, the images show a digital instrument panel and a large touchscreen combined into one unit. Also striking is the round knob of the automatic transmission, as in the new Focus and Kuga.

By the way, it is from these models that the Ford Mondeo 2021 will take the C2 platform. Petrol and diesel turbo engines with a displacement of 1.5 and 2.0 liters will be available, as well as hybrid versions of the Ford Mondeo. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants are planned.
