The classic Kia Stonic took 4th place in the European market sales ranking back in late 2017. The version will become available for purchase in the penultimate quarter of this year with a 5-year warranty.

Stonic model transmissions

In the updated Kia Stonic, you can see a petrol engine with a mild-hybrid manual gearbox EcoDynamics+. The vehicle's efficiency is increased with the help of a liter engine, a completely new transmission, and MHEV. It is worth noting that the engine's power in terms of torque is provided by a 48-volt lithium-ion battery. In turn, the hybrid starter-generator is responsible for the extended "shut-off" time of the engine.

"Smartstream" is a worthy replacement for the Stonic 'Kappa' T-generation with CVVD technology, allowing the engine to switch between combustion cycles. Both the new engine and the gearbox produce 100-120 hp. At the same time, Drive Mode Select allows switching between eco, normal, and sport modes.

The transmission is also available with an intelligent manual gearbox. Fuel economy and CO2 emission reduction are ensured by "clutch-by-wire" and MHEV systems. The clutch of the intelligent manual gearbox is actuated by electronics. Both gearboxes of the crossover operate in "shut-off" mode. This system can operate at a speed of 125 km/h, and the engine starts when the brakes, clutch, or accelerator pedal are pressed.

"SmartStream" engines

In addition to EcoDynamics+ models, customers are offered a range of petrol engines with maximum efficiency. In particular, this is a liter T-GDi engine with 100 hp and a 1.2-liter version of the engine with direct injection and Dual Port Injection technology. The first engine is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The company notes that official performance indicators of the gearboxes will be known closer to the start of sales.

KIA Stonic technologies and features

The crossover offers an improved infotainment system with UVO Connect telematics. The model can also boast an improved system with a touchscreen display and "Phase II" UVO Connect technology, as well as Bluetooth multi-connectivity for simultaneous connection and use of two mobile devices. Vehicle owners will be able to connect a smartphone without a cable using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The multimedia system features telematics options with specific services – information about traffic on roads and parking lots, weather forecast, fuel prices. A unique detail is that voice recognition allows sending text messages to users.

Using the "Profile Transfer" function, the owner will be able to create a copy of their UVO data via the cloud and transfer it to another vehicle.

KIA Stonic design features

The exterior design of the car remains almost unchanged except for new LED headlights at the front. However, manufacturers give crossover buyers the opportunity to install 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels, as well as choose an exterior color from dark gray or sporty blue. The body color palette offers 9 paint colors, including contrasting shades. The total number of two-tone options reaches 20.

The interior has also not been left without color changes. Depending on the crossover specification, you can choose blue or yellow colors. Inside, there is not only an 8-inch display but also a digital instrument cluster screen.
