PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED: OUR INNER WORLD

With the new "hot" versions of the already known PEUGEOT 508 and PEUGEOT 508 SW models, the Brand begins a new chapter in its history – a chapter called PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED. Offering a perfect union of sportiness and technology, PEUGEOT reinvents the concepts of dynamics and power – now necessarily with responsibility to the world around us: this approach can be called "Neo-Performance". The original identity of PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED is created by the front end with three glowing traces in "Kryptonite" color, as if with "cut" claws. And the rear is styled in the spirit of the PEUGEOT 504 Coupé, thus paying tribute to the legendary heritage of the Brand.

The 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED model is not just a "hot" or "charged" car, but also a true presentation of technologies and the quintessence of the experience of the engineers of the PEUGEOT SPORT division. Who have already repeatedly proven their professionalism in a variety of tasks. For example...

  • international racing series and championships – the World Rally Championship WRC, DAKAR series races, the Pikes Peak hill climb, the World Endurance Championship WEC;
  • creation of the 208 FE concept in 2013 (CO2 emissions of only 46 g/km, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in 8.2 seconds) or development of the 308 R HYbrid in 2015 (500 hp, 720 Nm, 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.0 seconds).

Simultaneously with the launch of the new label, PEUGEOT announces its return to the World Endurance Championship WEC in the LMH (Le Mans Hypercar) category, starting from 2022.

PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED: IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The new 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED is the most powerful production car ever built by the PEUGEOT Brand.

The powertrain can develop power of up to 360 hp and 520 Nm of torque – all thanks to a smart combination of a traditional internal combustion engine and the power of innovative electric drive. This combination allows achieving an almost instantaneous level of vehicle response to driver actions and guarantees unprecedented figures compared to all previous Brand models:

  • 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.2 seconds;
  • 1000 m from a standstill in 24.5 seconds;
  • 80-120 km/h acceleration in 3 seconds;
  • top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited).

The pleasure of driving is at the core of the PEUGEOT Brand, so the engineers of the sports division specially recalibrated the chassis of the PEUGEOT 508 to achieve precise handling – but necessarily while maintaining a compromise with a high level of comfort. Examples of this approach include:

  • shock absorbers with the ability to operate in one of three driving modes (Comfort/Hybrid/Sport);
  • lowered ride height, widened track – by 24 mm at the front and 12 mm at the rear;
  • installation of 380-mm brake discs and 4-piston calipers on the front wheels;
  • use of 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S sports tires.

PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED: MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY, MINIMUM CONSUMPTION

The new 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED can develop 360 hp thanks to a combination of a petrol internal combustion engine and two electric motors, for driving the front and rear wheels, thereby implementing all-wheel drive. In addition, all-wheel drive ensures optimal traction in any weather conditions.

Using the switch on the center console, the driver can select one of five driving modes. For example:

  • "Electric" – for 100% electric driving with a range of up to 42 km (WLTP) – this mode guarantees you access to "green zones" in the city center, and also provides good acceleration when driving at speeds in the range of 0-140 km/h;
  • "Comfort" – hybrid driving mode (using both the ICE and electric motors), plus the softest suspension settings;
  • "Hybrid" – a universal driving mode where the system automatically selects the use of the ICE or electric motors to achieve optimal fuel economy, with optimal settings of other systems (for example, suspension and steering);
  • "Sport" – maximum power of 360 hp for your boundless pleasure! In this mode, the powertrain operates at maximum output, the ICE provides constant battery recharging, the suspension and steering tighten up, and the response to the accelerator pedal becomes sharper;
  • "4WD" – all-wheel drive mode for maximum grip on slippery roads.

As for the hybrid drive, the "charged" version of the 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED uses all the Brand's experience gained in creating innovative models PEUGEOT 3008 HYBRID, PEUGEOT 3008 HYBRID4, PEUGEOT 508 HYBRID. Also used are the hybrid developments from the PEUGEOT SPORT division, which were obtained in tough racing conditions.

As a result, the new model received maximally flexible charging modes that are adapted to different everyday life conditions:

  • charging the traction battery from a standard household outlet – less than 7 hours;
  • charging the traction battery from an outlet with a current of 16 Amps – about 4 hours;
  • charging the traction battery from a "Wallbox" type source with a current of 32 Amps – less than 2 hours.

The new 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED provides the same cabin space and trunk volume as the traditional versions with an internal combustion engine. All thanks to the thoughtful placement of the electric motors and battery in the lower part of the body.

When we say PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED, we mean not just "power and dynamics", but also a meticulous attitude towards the outside world – this approach to creating powerful and dynamic cars can be described by the word "Neo-Performance". The new model offers an ideal combination of sportiness and technology with record-low CO2 emissions and minimal fuel consumption – 46 g/km (WLTP), which is equivalent to only 2.03 l per 100 km!

PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED: SENSATIONAL IMPRESSIONS – NOT ONLY FROM THE TECHNOLOGY, BUT ALSO FROM THE DESIGN

The new 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED embodies all the "know-how" and experience of the PEUGEOT Brand in finding a careful chassis balance. PEUGEOT SPORT engineers recalibrated the suspension so that the car delivers even more driving pleasure. Cornering maneuvers have become even more precise thanks to the optimal steering calibration.

  • on the sides – three decorative stickers and also a triple "claw stroke" near the wheel arch (for the 508 model) or front fender (for the 508 SW model);
  • at the rear – black exhaust pipe trims, a central diffuser with a black glossy finish;
  • special 20-inch wheels with MICHELIN© Pilot Sport 4S tires, front sports brakes from PEUGEOT SPORT with "Kryptonite" coloring.
