Nissan's Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta told Automotive News that the American model lineup of the brand will undergo significant changes. For example, in 2022, the Maxima sedan will give way in the lineup to a possibly fully electric model, which will be executed in the style of the Nissan IMs concept.

The Nissan IMs show car debuted in the winter of 2019 in Detroit and featured a pair of electric motors with a total output of 490 hp and a range of 611 km.

The future electric sedan will retain its flagship status, but it is not yet known under what designation - it is quite possible that the name Maxima will go down in history.
