The facelift did not change the model's appearance too much, touching only the radiator grille and bumper design. Two new shades appeared in the hatchback's body color range: gray Perennial Grey and blue Sporty Blue. In addition, the restyled version can be distinguished by new 16-inch alloy wheels.

In the updated Rio interior, the new Phase II UVO Connect media center with an 8-inch screen, support for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation and access to online services stands out. The proprietary smartphone app allows you to find the car in the parking lot or upload a pre-planned route to the onboard navigation.

In the line of modifications of the updated Kia Rio, a mild-hybrid version appeared, equipped with a 1.0 T-GDi turbo engine from the Smartstream family, which is supplemented by a 48-volt starter-generator. Among other things, the hybrid will get a completely new transmission — the iMT robot. The modernized 1.2 MPi engine, producing 84 hp, also remains in service.
