The new BMW 4 Series is built on the same CLAR platform as the 3 Series sedan, but differs in chassis tuning and a lower center of gravity. In particular, the negative camber angle of the front wheels has been increased, the rear track has been widened (+22mm), and the rear five-link suspension has been reinforced with struts for stability on straights and in corners.

At the front, the two-door body has been reinforced with additional stiffening panels. The new coupe is 57 mm lower than the sedan and also has a better drag coefficient.

It is already known that the top variant of the new "four" will be the all-wheel-drive M440i xDrive Coupe, equipped with a three-liter engine producing 347 horsepower, supplemented by a 48-volt mild hybrid system capable of adding another 11 hp.

The new BMW 4 Series has already undergone winter tests in Sweden, as well as track runs at the Nürburgring. The final part of the test trials is at BMW's test facility in Munich.
