As is known, Volkswagen and Ford have reached an agreement to form a global partnership, within the framework of which they will jointly create light commercial vehicles, as well as SUVs and pickups.

The new generation Volkswagen Amarok will use a common platform and key components with the new mid-size Ford Ranger pickup. It is expected that the production versions of both vehicles will be presented in early 2022. It is assumed that the Amarok will receive from the Ranger an engine lineup including a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged gasoline engine and an inline four-cylinder, as well as a three-liter turbocharged diesel V6. Earlier, the German brand's chief operating officer, Ralf Brandstätter, noted that a hybrid version of the pickup is not currently being considered.
