The Toyota TJ Cruiser concept car was first shown to the public in the fall of 2017 at an exhibition in Tokyo. The car combined the features of a spacious van and an off-road vehicle, standing out with a large ground clearance and large wheels. The model's name is deciphered as a combination of the words Toolbox and joy.

Sliding doors and transformable seats make it possible to transport large-sized equipment for recreation — from bicycles to surfboards.

In production form, the Toyota TJ Cruiser will be based on the TNGA architecture used in most new models of the Japanese brand. Under the hood, hybrid powertrains based on 1.8 and 2.5-liter engines will be offered, as well as a two-liter turbocharged engine. Drive — front or all-wheel, the latter will be borrowed from the RAV4 crossover.
