The published image shows that the standard Volkswagen Golf GTI will be equipped with a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 245 horsepower. At the same time, the more aggressive GTI TCR version will get a boosted engine with power increased to 300 hp. The Golf GTD modification will feature a diesel unit with 201 horsepower, while the hybrid Golf GTE will deliver a total of 245 horsepower.
As for the flagship Volkswagen Golf R, under its hood will be a two-liter gasoline engine capable of generating 333 horsepower. This is 23 horsepower more than the figures of the similar hot hatch of the previous generation. Acceleration characteristics have not yet been disclosed. For comparison, the previous Golf R accelerated to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, and its top speed with the additional Performance Pack was 270 kilometers per hour.
The official debut of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI will take place in March at the Geneva Motor Show. The flagship Golf R, according to preliminary data, will be first presented in July at the Festival of Speed in English Goodwood.
