The Prime version, which debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, became the most powerful and at the same time the most economical variant of the model.

Compared to the standard RAV4 hybrid, the Prime version differs by a more powerful electric motor and a larger battery. The powertrain includes a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 178 hp, paired with an electric unit that transmits torque to the rear wheels.

The total output of the combined system is 306 hp — 84 hp more than the units of the standard hybrid. Such a car can accelerate from standstill to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in 5.8 seconds. On one gallon of fuel, the crossover in combined mode travels up to 90 miles, which is equivalent to a consumption of 2.6 liters per 100 kilometers.
