So far, a front-facing photo has been published, the bend of the rear pillar has been declassified, and the rear of the new product with an integrated spoiler and a thin line of LED optics has been demonstrated. Judging by the profile of the front bumper and the ventilation holes in the rear bumper, the first images show the M235i xDrive version.

The BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe will share the front-wheel-drive FAAR platform with the new 1-Series hatchback. It is quite likely that the engine lineup and the all-wheel-drive concept will also be retained. So far, only one engine has been confirmed: the 306-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the M235i xDrive version. Probably, the base version at the start of sales will be the 228i - in this configuration, the "two" will develop about 231 horsepower and 349 Nm of torque.

The BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe is expected to compete with the designer sedan Mercedes-Benz CLA. The "younger" four-door coupe of the Bavarian brand will become a global model and will be sold in various markets. It is known that the new product will be brought to the auto show in Los Angeles, but the appearance and characteristics of the most compact Gran Coupe may be disclosed before the motor show.
