Technically, the 4Runner Venture Edition repeats the off-road vehicle from ten years ago — under the hood is a 4.0-liter gasoline engine with 270 horsepower. The gearbox is non-alternative — a 5-speed automatic. The off-road arsenal consists of part-time all-wheel drive with a rigidly connected front axle and a two-speed reduction gear in the transmission. The electronic updates typical for the 4Runner 2020 model year are inherent to the Venture Edition: the entertainment complex with an 8-inch screen supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa, and active safety systems include a lane keeping assist, collision prevention system, adaptive headlights, and cruise control.
Prices for the 4Runner Venture Edition start at $44,285. For comparison, a regular rear-wheel-drive 4Runner is priced at $36,000.
