Autocar was told about this by Frank Welsch, a member of the Volkswagen Group board responsible for technical development. According to him, the car will be available with a hybrid powertrain producing 204 hp and 245 horsepower. According to the top manager, in the first case, the car will be sold without special GTE trim and will look like a regular Golf.
The design of the Volkswagen Golf GTE is also not a secret. Spy photographers managed to capture the car near the Nürburgring, where the car was undergoing testing, almost without camouflage. Photos of the hatchback were also posted by Autocar. The car already shows the new brand logo, which was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The new Golf will differ from the current model with a more sculpted hood, completely different optics combined with a narrow radiator grille, and a lower roofline. No photos of the interior were provided. It is expected that the hatchback will have a minimum of analog buttons and mechanical switches — most functions can be controlled via a large touchscreen in a separate unit.
The official premiere of the car will take place before the end of this year. Production of the car will be established at the plant in Wolfsburg. The total investment in the development of the next Golf will be about 1.8 billion euros.
