Ferrari's technical director Michael Leiters revealed details about the brand's upcoming SUV in an interview with Autocar. He emphasized that the new model will have little in common with competitors such as the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, and Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
The new model, known under the internal index 175, will be part of the list of 15 Ferrari models planned for release by 2023. It will be based on a new platform with a front-mounted engine, which will also serve as the basis for supercars in the GT lineup in the future.
"We aim to open a new market segment for Ferrari. I am confident that we have managed to find a concept that will allow us to create a true SUV, but it will stand out noticeably from what other brands already offer," Leiters noted.
The mentioned platform is designed to accommodate various powertrains, including V6, V8, V12, as well as hybrid systems, and will be paired with an automatic transmission with dual clutches. Earlier, there was information that the Purosangue model would be equipped with a hybrid system based on a gasoline V8.
It is expected that the length of the four-seat all-road vehicle will be about five meters. The equipment will include adaptive suspension and active anti-roll bars. The price of the five-door car, according to preliminary data, will be around 300 thousand euros.
