The British publication Autocar shared photos of a camouflaged test prototype.

The new generation GLA will be built on the scalable MFA platform with front-wheel drive — the same one already used in the current A-Class hatchback, sedan and CLA shooting brake, B-Class compact MPV, and the recently debuted GLB crossover.

It is expected that the exterior of the new GLA will largely borrow from the A-Class hatchback. Thanks to the transition to the new platform, the crossover will become lower than the previous model. The equipment will include the MBUX multimedia system with a digital instrument cluster combined with a touchscreen, as well as voice control capability.

The engine lineup will include a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine developed jointly with Renault, as well as a two-liter unit. Diesels will be represented by a 1.5-liter engine. In addition, sports modifications from AMG under the indices 35 and 45 will appear, with power ranging from 306 to 421 horsepower.
