The anniversary version of the BMW M5 Edition 35 Years is timed to the thirty-fifth anniversary of the model and is based on the M5 Competition trim. Under the hood of the sedan is the same 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 625 hp and 750 Nm of torque, as in the standard version. The anniversary car's equipment includes M xDrive all-wheel drive and an active differential on the rear axle. Such a sedan accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, and to 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds.

The main differences from the regular M5 Competition are the body in Frozen Dark Grey color from the BMW Individual palette with a special pigment and matte texture, fresh 20-inch wheels in Graphite Grey shade, as well as brake calipers in glossy black (carbon-ceramic with golden calipers are available for an extra charge). Inside, multi-contour M seats are installed, the upholstery is leather, and aluminum-carbon inserts have gold anodizing. The thresholds feature the inscriptions M5 Edition 35 Jahre, and on the cupholder cover is engraved M5 Edition 35 Jahre 1/350.
