The first production crossover under the premium brand Maybach is planned to be presented before the end of this year at a special event in China.

As Automotive News reports, sales of the luxury SUV are scheduled to start early next year. The main competitors of the new model will be the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

The first off-road Maybach will be built on the platform of the third-generation GLS crossover. Under the hood will be a petrol V6 engine with 560 hp. Other technical characteristics remain undisclosed for now.

Production of the new crossover will be organized at a plant in the US state of Alabama, where the GLS, GLE, and GLE Coupe are already assembled. According to preliminary data, the price of the off-road Maybach will reach approximately 200 thousand dollars.
