The Japanese publication Best Car has reported insider data about the new Lexus IS. The three-liter turbocharged "six" produces 340 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, working in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission on the new Supra. The same powertrain is likely to be used in the new sedan as well.
In addition, the engine lineup of the new Lexus IS will include turbocharged engines with displacements of 2.0 and 2.4 liters, as well as a hybrid based on a 2.5-liter unit. The appearance of a "charged" F version with a biturbo V6, which is installed on the flagship LS500 sedan, is not ruled out.
The new Lexus IS will be built on the modular TNGA platform, which will reduce the weight of the model by approximately 150 kg compared to its predecessor. An increase in wheelbase of about 40 mm will provide more free space in the cabin.
