The fifth-generation Clio is based on a modernized CMF-B platform and a lighter body that shed 22 kg. The model's overall length is 4048 mm (-14 mm), width is 1798 mm (+66), and height is 1440 mm (-30).

The design of the new Clio features stylistic elements from the Megane family, as well as the Symbioz concept presented in 2017 in Frankfurt.
According to Renault's chief designer, Laurens van den Acker, about 70% of the time during development was devoted to creating the interior. The hatchback boasts a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a multimedia system with a 9.3-inch touchscreen and navigation.

The new seats have increased rear passenger legroom by 26 mm. In addition, the Clio has a larger glove box, and the trunk volume has grown to 330-391 liters.

The base engine of the new Clio is a three-cylinder 1-liter engine with 65 or 75 hp. Additionally, a turbocharged engine of the same displacement is available, producing 100 or 130 hp. Diesels are represented by two 1.5-liter units developing 85 and 115 hp.
