The show car has wheels, but they are attached to "robotic legs", thanks to which the car can "drive, walk and even climb over the most difficult surfaces". For example, Elevate can step over a two-meter fence. Therefore, according to the engineers' idea, such a car will be useful for rescue services, as well as for moving people with disabilities.
"When natural disasters occur, even modern rescue vehicles cannot deliver emergency workers to the epicenter of the disaster. Due to the destruction, they most often have to cover significant distances on foot; Elevate can leave rescuers practically at any point, despite obstacles," noted Hyundai Vice President John Su.
Elevate can be used as both passenger and cargo transport. The model is built on the EV platform and is driven by an electric motor, details of which are not yet disclosed. The electric car is also equipped with an autonomous control system.
The manufacturer noted that the concept was developed over three years. It is possible that in the future the show car will get a production version.
