The name Taycan has Turkic roots and translates as "spirit of a young, energetic stallion."

The concept car that preceded the production Taycan was called Mission E and was presented in 2016 at the Paris Motor Show. The car was equipped with a pair of electric motors whose combined power exceeded 600 horsepower. The range reached approximately 500 kilometers, measured according to the NEDC cycle.

Serial production of the Porsche Taycan electric vehicle will start next year at the plant in Zuffenhausen.
