The new Golf will be built on an updated MQB platform, which will allow shedding from 35 to 70 kilograms of weight depending on the version, and the trunk volume will increase to 400 liters.

The engine lineup will be supplemented with new 1.5-liter gasoline turbo units, and a diesel of the same volume will replace the previous 1.6-liter ones. There will also be a hybrid version that can be charged from a regular outlet.

Among the sporty versions, a GTI with about 250 horsepower and an all-wheel-drive R variant producing around 350 hp are expected.
