The new generation of the crossover is built on the K2 platform, which underpins the new Ceed. Compared to its predecessor, the model has grown in size. The length of the third Soul is 4197 mm (+56 mm), and the wheelbase is 2600 mm (+30 mm). The trunk volume is 651 liters.

The new Soul retains its characteristic angular body shape and borrows some design elements from the Trail’ster concept, presented three years ago in Chicago. The crossover is equipped with new optics, an enlarged air intake, L-shaped taillights, modified bumpers, and a radiator grille. A sport version GT-Line with an aggressive body kit has also been added, as well as an off-road variant X-Line with additional body protection.

The interior features new seats, an 8-inch projection screen, an improved multimedia system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen display, and a premium Harman Kardon audio system with 640 watts and 10 speakers.

The decorative interior lighting reacts to music and adapts to it. Also available are an automatic braking system, parking assist function, adaptive cruise control, as well as blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist functions.

In the US, the new Kia Soul will be sold with a two-liter engine producing 150 hp. Customers will also be offered a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 204 hp. The naturally aspirated engine works with a six-speed manual or a CVT. The turbo engine is offered with a 7-speed automatic.

The Soul also received a fully electric version. The eco-friendly crossover uses a battery pack with a capacity of 62 kWh. The powertrain is borrowed from the e-Niro electric car. The power of this version of the crossover is 201 horsepower. Without recharging, the electric car can travel 385 kilometers.
