In the photos, the car is shown almost without camouflage. At the same time, the exact dates of the premiere of the new product are still unknown. Most likely, the debut of the convertible may take place before the end of this year.
Judging by the photos, the design of the new product will repeat the eponymous coupe that was presented earlier. The car will get a wide radiator grille, LED optics, a sporty exhaust system with chrome tips, and a fabric roof. The "Eight" will become the first production model of the Bavarian brand to receive a roof made of carbon fiber reinforced polymer.

The photos show a modification of the car under the index M850i xDrive. This convertible will get a 4.4-liter gasoline turbo engine V8 with an output of 530 hp. With such an engine, the coupe accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. For the convertible, this figure will increase to 4 seconds. The engine will work in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Customers will also be offered a 3.3-liter diesel unit with six cylinders. The engine power will be 320 hp. A "charged" version of the convertible is also expected. The power of such a modification will be about 600 hp. The car will be equipped with an all-wheel drive system, a self-locking rear differential, and an upgraded braking system. It is expected that the convertible will gain 100-125 kg in weight.
Production of the 8-Series coupe has already started at the plant in Lower Bavaria.
