The capacity of the battery has increased from 33 kWh and 94 Ah to 44.2 kWh and 120 Ah. Recharging to 80% from a standard home outlet takes 15 hours, while using the proprietary i Wallbox charging station takes 3 hours and 20 minutes. At a fast charging station, replenishing the energy reserve will take about 40 minutes.

According to the updated WLTP cycle, the range of the BMW i3 without recharging is now approximately 285-310 km, whereas previously this figure was 235-255 km. For the sporty S version, the driving range has increased from 235-245 km to 270-285 km. The company noted that in typical daily usage scenarios, both electric vehicles travel about 260 km — that's 60 km more than the previous result.

The standard version of the BMW i3 is equipped with an electric motor producing 170 hp, which accelerates the car from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The BMW i3s with a 184 hp unit reaches this speed 0.4 seconds faster.

The updated BMW i3 will receive new body color options, adaptive LED headlights, an iDrive multimedia system with an improved interface, as well as a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot that can connect up to 10 devices simultaneously.
