As reported by the deputy chairman of the board of directors and holder of ten percent of the company's shares, the car will have four doors, but its appearance will not allow it to be confused with any other SUV on the market.

The name of the new product and its launch date were announced by Ferrari CEO Louis Carey Camilleri during the presentation of the new five-year business plan. The model, named Purosangue (translated from Italian as "thoroughbred"), will appear in 2022, and its basis will be the new Front- and Mid-Engine architecture. Instead of the usual naturally aspirated engine or a twin-turbo V-shaped "eight", the crossover will receive a hybrid power unit based on a V6 — the same as sixty percent of Ferrari supercars that will be produced by that time.

To achieve an ideal balance of masses along the axes, the internal combustion engine will be placed in the front part within the wheelbase, and the transmission and hybrid components will be in the rear area. Purosangue will be equipped with all-wheel drive, a modern suspension with variable ground clearance, a multimedia system for second-row passengers, and an improved interface for controlling key vehicle functions.
