In the future, the prototype should get a production version. It is expected that such a modification will debut in 2020.

The C5 Aircross Hybrid powertrain includes a PureTech gasoline engine with 180 hp and an electric motor with 80 kW. The total power of the crossover is 225 hp. The range on electric power alone is 50 km. From a regular electrical outlet, the battery charges overnight — from 4 to 8 hours. The driver has access to three driving modes — zero emissions mode (ZEV), "Hybrid" or "Sport".
The overall length of the flagship Citroen crossover is 4.5 m, width — 1.84 m, height — 1.67 m, and the wheelbase is 2.73 meters. The trunk volume is 484 liters. The lower part of the car uses proprietary Airbump air capsules designed to protect the body from damage in minor collisions.

The Citroen C5 Aircross is built on the PSA EMP2 modular architecture, which is also used on the Peugeot 3008. The crossover became the company's first model with innovative Progressive Hydraulic Cushions suspension, where two hydraulic stops are additionally used in the shock absorbers — a rebound stop and a compression stop.
The list of available driver assistance systems includes adaptive cruise control with full stop function, surround view function, blind spot monitoring system, and road sign recognition function.
