The abbreviation "RS", meaning "Rally Sport", was first used in 1974 on the racing prototypes Skoda 180 RS and Skoda 200 RS. Subsequently, based on these cars, the Skoda 130 RS was created, which became one of the most successful rally cars of the 1970s. Since 2000, the abbreviation "RS" has been used on high-performance versions of the Czech brand's models. The first was the Octavia RS, and in 2003 the Fabia RS appeared.

The next representative of the RS family of the Czech brand will be a sporty version of the Kodiaq crossover, whose public premiere will also take place at the Paris Motor Show. The new model, equipped with a 240-horsepower two-liter turbo-four, has already set a record on the Nürburgring's "North Loop" among cars with a seven-seat cabin.
