The two-liter turbodiesel with 186 horsepower works in tandem with a small electric motor of 12 kilowatts (16 hp), which functions as a starter and generator. The electrical part is powered by a 48-volt onboard network with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 0.44 kilowatt-hours.
The new hybrid crossover is equipped with an all-wheel drive system and is available to customers with a choice of two transmissions: a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox. According to the manufacturer, the use of the hybrid system has reduced the average fuel consumption by 7 percent.
In addition, the company announced that by spring 2019, the Tucson model range will be expanded with a version featuring a 48-volt electrical system and a 1.6-liter diesel engine.
