Externally, the facelifted Sportage can be distinguished by new bumpers, modified fog lights, as well as a different design of the radiator grille and rear optics.
Inside, a new steering wheel appeared, ventilation deflectors were changed, and the instrument panel was slightly modernized.
The main technical innovation was the EcoDynamics+ hybrid system, which combines a two-liter diesel engine, a belt-driven Mild-Hybrid Starter-Generator, a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, as well as a DC-DC converter.
In addition, the 1.7-liter diesel was replaced by a 1.6-liter unit producing either 115 or 136 hp. The manufacturer has not yet published detailed characteristics of the new powertrains.
European sales of the updated Kia Sportage will start in autumn.
