The new Avalon has received a rather bold design. Especially unusual, perhaps even too much, is the styling of the huge radiator grille and front bumper.

The model has moved to the new modular TNGA platform, which also underlies the latest generation Camry. The Avalon has grown 18 mm in length (4978 mm), and the wheelbase has lengthened by as much as 50 mm (2870 mm).

The new platform has allowed adding more space in the cabin, which has also noticeably transformed. The stylish interior is trimmed with leather, wood, and aluminum, and the multimedia system has acquired a 9-inch screen. In addition, sound insulation has been significantly improved.

The engine lineup of the new Avalon includes a 3.5-liter gasoline V6, as well as a 2.5 four-cylinder engine that is part of a hybrid powertrain with two electric motors. The hybrid version is equipped with a CVT, while modifications with the V6 are offered with an 8-speed automatic.

More detailed technical specifications, as well as prices, have not yet been announced. Sales of the new Toyota Avalon will start in May.
