The Passat GT first debuted as a concept in the fall of 2016 in Los Angeles, and the production-ready version presented today in Detroit is virtually identical to its predecessor.

Externally, the "hot" Passat features striking bumper design, red trim on the radiator grille, black roof and mirrors, a small spoiler on the trunk lid, and special 19-inch wheels. The GT version also gets a suspension lowered by 15 mm.
Inside, you'll find sport seats with pronounced lateral support and contrast stitching.

Under the hood of the sedan is a 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V6, paired with a six-speed DSG automatic transmission.

Sales of the Volkswagen Passat GT in the American market will start closer to summer. Prices start at $29,940.
