The BMW i8 Roadster differs from the coupe only by its removable roof and 60 kg of "extra" weight, while the facelift itself turned out to be barely noticeable. The biggest change is the new wheel design.

The interior features new seats, an upgraded media center, and new combinations of trim materials.

The upgraded electric motor allowed increasing the total power of the hybrid powertrain to 374 hp (+12 hp). At the same time, the closed i8 still takes 4.4 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h, while the roadster will need 0.2 seconds more.

The range on electric power alone has increased to 55 km (+18 km), and the maximum speed in electric mode is now 105 km/h (previously 70 km/h).

The updated BMW i8 "sport hybrids" will go on sale next spring.
