The new Tesla Roadster has completely changed its appearance and, in fact, has ceased to be a roadster in the usual sense. The car received a targa-type body designed for four passengers, and a sliding glass roof panel is installed above the front seats.
Inside, attention is drawn to the yoke that replaced the standard steering wheel, as well as sporty bucket seats. Of course, the huge multimedia system display characteristic of Tesla is still present.
However, the model's main trump card is significantly improved dynamic performance. The updated electric motors, powered by 250 kWh batteries, develop a phenomenal 10,000 Nm of torque!
The electric car accelerates to 100 km/h in just two seconds, and after 4.2 seconds the speedometer shows 160 km/h. The maximum speed, according to stated data, exceeds 400 km/h. The announced range is no less impressive — about 1,000 km!
A fully production version of the new Tesla Roadster should be expected no earlier than 2020. At the same time, the starting price has already been announced — from 200 thousand dollars. To place an order, you will need to make a prepayment of at least a quarter of this amount.
In addition, Tesla has revealed details about its first electric truck, the Semi, whose serial production will begin in 2019.
This tractor can accelerate to 97 km/h in five seconds without cargo, and with a trailer weighing 36 tons — in 20 seconds. The range exceeds 800 km, and a half-hour charge at a special station resembling a "pit stop" will add energy for 645 km of travel.
