The Mercedes-Benz S 560 e, like its predecessor the S 500 e, is a plug-in hybrid capable of being recharged from the mains.

The hybrid powertrain combines a three-liter gasoline turbo engine with 367 hp (+33 hp) and an electric motor producing 90 kW (122 hp), instead of the previous 80 kW (109 hp).
The upgraded tandem consumes on average only 2.1 l/100 km, which is 0.7 l more economical than the previous version. The range on electric power alone has increased from 33 to 50 km.

Acceleration to 100 km/h will take the updated sedan exactly 5 seconds (-0.2 sec). The top speed is still limited to 250 km/h.
Sales of the Mercedes-Benz S 560 e hybrid will begin closer to the end of the year. The price has not yet been disclosed.
