The new modification has been named Audi R8 V10 RWS (Rear Wheel Series) and will be produced in a limited run of 999 units.
Externally, the rear-wheel-drive R8 is distinguished by a matte black radiator grille and an optional red accent on the body.

Inside, there are no changes except for a plaque with the serial number of the unit above the glove box.

Dropping the all-wheel drive allowed shedding 50 "extra" kg, but the model's dynamics still slightly worsened. Acceleration to 100 km/h in the R8 V10 RWS takes 3.7 seconds, 0.2 sec. worse than the all-wheel-drive version with the same 540-horsepower FSI 5.2 engine. The top speed for both versions is the same – 320 km/h.

The price of the Audi R8 V10 RWS in Europe starts from 140 thousand euros, which is almost 20% cheaper than the all-wheel-drive counterpart. The open-top Spyder version will cost at least 153 thousand euros.
