The seven-seat CX-9 crossover, the only one in the lineup, turns out to be too large for the Japanese market, so the manufacturer decided to equip the more compact CX-5 model with a third row of seats. Moreover, the direct competitor from Germany, Volkswagen Tiguan, already has an Allspace modification with three rows.

It is not yet clear whether specialists will increase the dimensions of the CX-5 or try to place additional seats in the luggage compartment of the standard version. Information about the launch of the seven-seat version of the CX-5 in other markets and the timing of its appearance in Japan has not yet been disclosed.
